Plumbing Contractors

All plumbers must register with the City of Orange and must pull their own permits (separate from the general contractor's building permit.)

The City of Orange requires proof of a current Texas State Plumbing Master License or a State Irrigators License on file in the Inspections Office at 303 N. 8th Street, Orange, TX 77630.

The City of Orange requires an Insurance Certificate showing a minimum of $300,000 in general liability and state issued photo ID to be on file in the Inspections Office.

Inspections Required:

  • Soils (Rough-In)
    • All waste and water piping should be in place under the slab and filled with a 5' head, but should not be covered.  Covered systems will get an automatic red tag.
  • Yard Lines for Water, Sewer, and/or Gas
    • Yard Lines may be inspected at any time prior to the final inspection.  Plumbers must not cover yard lines until inspection is complete.  Covered lines will get an automatic red tag.
  • Stack Out (Top Out)
    • Drain, waste, vent, gas and water piping should be completed but not covered.  Two story construction will require a water test and a preliminary gas test - if applicable.
  • Final Inspection - Not Occupied
    • All fixtures should be set and operational.  The water heater should be installed and operational. A final gas test (if applicable) will be required assuring no gas piping was damaged during construction.
